June 2026

Books, Patios & Summer Evenings
June might be my favourite month in Calgary.
The days are long, the city feels alive again, and suddenly everyone seems to emerge from hibernation. Patios fill up, gardens start taking shape, and evening walks somehow turn into conversations with neighbours.
I've always loved this shift. After spending so much of the year rushing from one thing to the next, June feels like permission to slow down a little.
Lately, I've been enjoying my morning coffee outside, working on the community planters, and putting the finishing touches on the Riverbend Book Exchange. What started as a simple idea has become a reminder of just how generous and connected our communities can be.
As a REALTOR®, people often assume homes are what I think about most. The truth is, it's usually the people. The neighbours who become friends, the local events that bring everyone together, and the familiar faces you run into while walking the dog.
The longer I do this, the more I'm convinced that those are the things that truly make a house feel like home.
I hope you're finding time to enjoy a little more sunshine, a few slower mornings, and all the small things that make Calgary summers so special.
Feature Insight
Why Community Matters More Than Square Footage
When people start thinking about moving, the conversation usually begins with bedrooms, bathrooms, and floor plans.
But after helping people buy and sell homes for years, I've noticed something.
The homes people talk about most aren't always the largest or the most updated.
They're the ones where they felt connected.
The neighbours who became friends.
The walking path they used every evening.
The little library around the corner.
The community events that became family traditions.
A home's value isn't just measured in square footage. It's also measured in the life that happens around it.
If you're considering a move in the next few years, it might be worth asking yourself:
"How do I want my everyday life to feel?"
More often than not, that answer leads people to the right neighbourhood long before it leads them to the right house.
Market Pulse
Calgary's housing market continues to move toward a more balanced state, giving buyers more choice than we've seen in recent years.
Detached homes in many neighbourhoods are still seeing steady demand, particularly when they're well-prepared and priced appropriately. Inventory remains relatively tight in this segment, helping support home values.
The biggest shift continues to be in the condo market. With more apartment-style homes available, buyers have more options and less urgency, creating a more competitive environment for sellers and putting some downward pressure on prices.
Overall, we're seeing a healthier, more balanced market where strategy matters more than speed. Buyers have time to compare options, and sellers who prepare their homes well continue to stand out.
As always, every neighbourhood and property type tells a slightly different story, which is why local knowledge remains so important.

Community Events
A Simple Idea That Grew
What started as a conversation about books has turned into something much bigger. Thanks to the generosity of neighbours, friends, and local book lovers, we've collected hundreds of books for the Riverbend Book Exchange on June 14.
Bring a book, take a book, or simply stop by and browse. There is no limit to how many books you can take, and everyone is welcome—whether you live in Riverbend or not.
We'll also have copies of the updated Little Library Trail Map available so you can discover the wonderful little libraries tucked throughout the community.
I hope you'll join us for an afternoon of books, conversation, and community.
